Acid Neutralizer Installation in Cleaton, KY

Acid Neutralizer Installation in Cleaton, KY

Well water below pH 6.5 is acidic enough to dissolve copper pipe and brass fittings. You see it as blue-green stains under faucets and in the tub. Over time it causes pinhole leaks, and it can raise copper and lead levels in the water you drink. Cleaton, KY Well Water Treatment handles acid neutralizer installation in Cleaton, KY.

A standard neutralizer is a backwashing tank filled with calcite, which is crushed calcium carbonate. As water passes through, the calcite dissolves slowly and raises the pH. For water below about 6.0, we may blend in a small amount of Corosex (magnesium oxide), which works harder but can overshoot if used alone.

What to expect:

• Calcite gets used up and needs topping off, usually once or twice a year
• Neutralizing adds some hardness, so a softener may follow
• Very low pH water may need soda ash injection instead of a tank

We test pH and alkalinity before and after, so you know the system is doing its job. If your copper lines already have pinholes, the neutralizer stops further damage but will not repair what is gone.
